Two free classes in the interest of public safety are being offered in August by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.

A Childrens' Self-Defense and "Stranger Danger" session is scheduled for Monday evening, August 16. The class begins at 6:00 that evening, and is intended for ages 5 - 12.

A Womens' self-Defense seminar will be held on Thursday, August 19, beginning at 6:00 o'clock. This class is appropriate for teens, adults, and seniors; girls under 18 must bring a parent or legal guardian.

Both classes are free of charge, and both will be held at the Martial Arts Academy of Fort Walton Beach, 42 Garnett Avenue, off Eglin Parkway across from K-Mart.
