Three arrests have been made today (Wednesday), as the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, the Okaloosa County Multi Agency Drug Task Force, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) executed search warrants at five residences in Destin. Taken into evidence were at least 16 firearms, one thousand rounds of ammunition, $3,000 worth of cocaine, small quantities of marijuana and pills, a gas mask, a bullet-resistant vest, survival supplies, and approximately one dozen lengths of metal pipe with end caps.
Robert Calvin McPherson, Jr. (pictured below), age 37 (3-8-1967), was arrested on a charge of Trafficking in Cocaine after agents discovered approximately three ounces of cocaine in powder form at his home, 708 Main Street. The seized cocaine has a street value of more than $3,000. Also seized at the McPherson house were two firearms and approximately $1,000 cash.
At 102 Calhoun Avenue, an EOD team from Eglin Air Force Base, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), and the Florida State Fire Marshal's Office were summoned when drug agents discovered several apparent pipe bombs in the living room and master bedroom. The devices were found to be inert. A resident at that address, David Scott "Rusty" Sasenick (pictured below), age 29 (4-9-1975) was arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
At 95 Tarpon Street, Peter Bennett (no photo available), age 32 (11-2-1971) was arrested on misdemeanor marijuana charges. Many of the firearms, including several assault rifles were found at this address, along with a gas mask, bullet-resistant vest, and other gear.
Search warrants were also served at 169 Lola Circle and 453 Calhoun Avenue. No arrests were made at either location.
The search warrants were the result of an investigation that began earlier this year into the distribution of cocaine. The investigation remains active, and additional arrests in the future are anticipated.
