A former Probation Officer has been arrested on felony drug charges after a search discovered almost 30 grams of marijuana at his residence in Shalimar today (Tuesday).

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office assisted the Florida Department of Corrections in the investigation, which began late last week when the DOC received confidential information of alleged drug use by one of their Probation Officers.

Investigators obtained a Search Warrant today (Tuesday) for the residence of Richard Alden Moore, Jr., age 40 (4-23-1964). Moore was arrested when the search found a felony amount of marijuana in a bar in the living room and a dresser drawer in the master bedroom, plus three smoking devices. The seized marijuana represents a value of approximately $250.

Moore resigned his position as a Probation Officer with the Florida Department of Corrections after being informed he was under investigation. The home addresses of Law Enforcement Officers, including Corrections and Probation Officers, are confidential by state law.
