An ongoing investigation by the Okaloosa County Multi-Agency Drug Task Force has resulted in five arrests.
Matthew Christopher Herring (pictured top left), age 19 (5-31-1983), and his girlfriend, Tyana Joleen Durand (pictured right), age 20, (5-29-1982) were arrested on Felony counts of Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute and Possession of Paraphernalia. Herring's mother, Gail McCollough Burke (pictured bottom left), age 48, (7-14-1954) was arrested on misdemeanor charges of possession of less than 20 grams of Marijuana and Possession of Paraphernalia. All three reside at 643 Sandalwood Drive, Destin.
Herring is currently awaiting sentencing on charges of Trafficking in Cocaine after a previous arrest on October 21, 2002.
Drug Task Force Agents arrived at the Herring residence with a Search Warrant late yesterday afternoon (Tuesday afternoon) after several weeks of investigation in the case. Small amounts of marijuana, along with packaging materials, were found inside the residence. Approximately one quarter pound of marijuana was found in the possession of Herring and Durand, who were discovered in Herring's pickup truck in the vicinity at the time.
Two 17 year old boys in the truck were discovered in possession of small quantities of marijuana, and face misdemeanor charges as a result.
