Quick action by employees at a Destin nightclub has resulted in the apprehension of three burglary suspects this week. Deputies were called to "Nightown," 140 Palmetto Street just prior to midnight, Wednesday night (January 15), where club employees had intercepted and detained an individual they believed was using a pocket knife to pry open the back window of a pickup truck. The employees also provided Deputies the description of a suspicious truck that had been circling the parking lot during that time.
With 15 minutes, Deputy Laura Yanna spotted and stopped that vehicle a few blocks from the nightclub.
Caught by Nightown employees in the club's parking lot was Jonathan Everett Hamilton (pictured top left), age 21 (5-24-1981), of Ranger Road, Mary Esther. The occupants of the truck were Wayne Anthony Tapp (pictured right), age 21 (7-23-1981), also of Ranger Road, Mary Esther; and Daniel Ray Godwin (pictured bottom loft), age 21 (1-13-1982), of 6th Street, Shalimar.
Investigating Deputies linked all three to a series of other pickup truck burglaries earlier the same evening at "The Boardwalk," 1450 Miracle Strip Parkway, Okaloosa Island. A jar of pennies and other items reported stolen in those break-ins were found in the suspect's truck.
All three were arrested on five counts of Burglary, two counts of Criminal Mischief, two counts of Grand Theft, and one count of Petty Theft. In addition, Hamilton was arrested on a sixth count of Burglary, plus one count of Possession of Burglary Tools; Tapp was also cited for Driving on a Suspended License.
