The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is investigating a case in which a young woman reports a man pretending to be a police officer in an unmarked car made sexual advances.
The incident was reported early yesterday (Tuesday). The woman reported she believed she was being stopped by an un-marked police car when she pulled over near Destin Middle School a few minutes before midnight, Monday night. The suspect vehicle, described as a light-colored Lexus, flashed its headlights but did not display a blue light or sound a siren.
The woman reports the driver of the Lexus ordered her into his front seat and told her she was under arrest for DUI. He drove to the area of Emerald Coast Parkway and Matthew Boulevard, where he pulled into a parking lot and sexually propositioned the woman in exchange for avoiding the DUI arrest. She refused; he then drove her back to her car and let her go without injury.
The suspect is described as a heavy-set white man in his 30's, about five-foot-nine. He had a tanned complexion, was either bald or had a shaved head, and had a mustache and a small beard. He was driving an ivory-colored 1990's Lexus. He was not wearing a uniform and did not display any badge or identification.
Anybody with any information about this individual or vehicle should contact the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office at (850) 651-7400 or Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 863-TIPS (850-863-8477).
