Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris has honored Investigator Laurie Keller and Communications Officer Shaunna Baggett as his Sworn and Non-Sworn Employees of the Quarter for the Third Quarter of 2003.

Investigator Keller (pictured left) joined the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office in September, 2001. She specializes in crimes against children, and is a representative to the Children's Advocacy Center. During the past quarter, Investigator Keller was assigned 67 cases, mostly involving abuse, neglect, and sexual battery. Of the 67 cases, 50 have been closed, and 15 more are pending. She is described by her supervisor as "committed to ensure the voices of children are heard and justice is served... she is well respected throughout the judicial and social service communities."

Communications Officer Baggett (pictured right) has been with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office since April, 2002, working at the Communications Center in Crestview. Her supervisor describes her as a leader, and notes she seldom requires guidance or correction and takes the initiative in solving problems and handling emergencies. She deals with the public and with Deputies in a courteous and professional manner, and is routinely assigned to operate the busiest radio channel on Saturday nights.

Sheriff Charlie Morris initiated a quarterly and annual recognition program for outstanding employees when he took office in January, 1997.
