The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has arrested a suspect in connection with last Thursday's robbery of the Vanguard Bank in Crestview. Ronald L. Strock, age 42 (1-16-1961) was developed as a possible suspect after the robbery and was actively sought by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office. Sunday afternoon, Deputies following a lead in the case located Strock in the backyard of a residence at 998 W. Walnut Avenue, Crestview. Strock struggled with deputies Stefan Vaughn and John Jenks, who both incurred minor injuries. Deputy Vaughn used a electronic "Taser" device to restrain the suspect.

During his arrest, Strock told the Deputies he had robbed the bank because he is a "crack head." Strock was booked on an unrelated outstanding Grand Theft warrant; he was also charged with Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest with Violence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Charges of Robbery with a Firearm and Grand Theft in connection with last week's bank robbery were added today (Monday).

A 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck reported stolen over the weekend in a car-jacking in Escambia County was recovered at the Walnut Avenue residence where Strock was taken into custody.
