Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office

The Public Information Office responds to numerous inquiries by telephone, mail, e-mail, fax, and in-person. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer, Michele Nicholson, receives a never-ending stream of inquiries, ranging from simple yes/no questions to complex requests for facts, figures, and statistics. Aside from the everyday inquiries, the public information officer has a monthly TV cable show, conducts TV news interviews, and writes several newspaper and magazine columns. The "Public Information Officer" (PIO) is constantly on the move, wearing several hats to represent the Sheriff's Office to the media and the public.

In addition to the numerous other responsibilities, news releases, prepared columns, and other written material for publication are prepared by the PIO Office at the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office. The PIO is also active in representing the Sheriff's Office at numerous meetings, functions, and events.

The reason for this commitment is fundamental: citizens should know more about the mission and activities of their Sheriff's Office. To that end, we are always receptive to questions, comments, and suggestions. If you have a topic idea for discussion on a radio talk show or printed column, let us know. Call Michele Nicholson at (850) 651-7420 for additional information.
