The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a one-vehicle fatal traffic crash on Highway 98 in Destin Wednesday night.
Deputies say the SUV was eastbound on Harbor Boulevard at a high rate of speed around 11 p.m. when it hit a light pole, partially ejecting the driver, 24-year old Brittany Torres of Santa Rosa Beach.
Torres was taken to the Destin Emergency Room where she was pronounced dead.
A passenger was not injured.
Power was knocked out in the general area but was restored by around 5 a.m. this morning.
