The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in West Okaloosa County Tuesday that injured a Fort Walton Beach man.
Deputies responded to a business on Skylark Drive around 1:30 this afternoon after witnesses say a man, later identified as 26-year old James Mills of Fort Walton Beach, arrived on a motorcycle bleeding from a gunshot wound to the face.
Deputies learned the shooting had taken place at a trailer at 813 Hilltop Road. A female resident says Mills had entered the trailer and gotten into a fight with another man who had been sleeping inside. The fight continued outside and at some point Mills suffered a gunshot wound. Investigators found blood inside and outside the residence.
Mills was taken by medical helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
The other individual believed to be involved was located in Santa Rosa County after showing up at Gulf Breeze Hospital for treatment of his fight-related injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
