ARREST REPORTS

A Mary Esther teen says he paid a man $40 worth of crack for a stolen car that he crashed in Fort Walton Beach Thursday night.

15-year old Jaurice Williams of Shrewsbury Road, and 18-year old Andrew Smedley of Lovejoy Road, were in a black Nissan Xterra reported stolen from a home in Mary Esther when they were involved in a wreck at Bob Sikes Boulevard and Michael Avenue around 7:30 p.m. last night. Both fled the scene, but Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies quickly set up a perimeter and called in K9 Units.

Williams, who had been driving the vehicle, was found around 8 p.m. hiding inside a home on Gerold Street. Smedley was located on a porch a few houses down about fifteen minutes later.

The owner of the Xterra says he noticed it missing from the driveway of his home on Marimba Street in Mary Esther around 7 a.m. September 13th. He says two paddleboards had been strapped to the roof and his MacBook Pro laptop had been left inside.

Williams and Smedley are currently charged with burglary to a residence, grand theft of a motor vehicle, resisting an officer without violence, loitering and prowling.

The investigation is continuing.

The traffic accident, which took place inside the city limits of Fort Walton Beach, is being handled by the Fort Walton Beach Police Department.
