A 16-year old Fort Walton Beach resident survived being shot accidentally in the base of his neck by a friend handling a .38 caliber revolver Saturday night.
The victim, 16-year old Anthony William Gooding, was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital for treatment of his injury and was initially listed in stable condition.
Deputies were called to a home in Mary Esther around 7 p.m. last night and were initially told the victim had accidentally shot himself. While at the home deputies also discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The teen that accidentally discharged the gun is charged with multiple misdemeanors; possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm under the age of 18, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
