SWAIN ARREST REPORT

A 15-year old Fort Walton Beach teen faces charges of first degree attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with a domestic violence related shooting at a home near Fort Walton Beach this morning.

Antonio Rashod Swain was taken into custody shortly after Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to 312 Elaine Avenue in reference to a 9-1-1 call around 9:47 a.m.

Investigators determined that Swain shot his older brother, 19-year old Anthony Jerome “A.J.” Nix inside the home. Nix then ran into nearby woods to escape.

Arriving deputies found Swain coming out of the house. He admitted shooting his older brother and deputies later located a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun in Swain’s room.

The boys’ mother says the two brothers were in a fight. Antonio went into his bedroom and got a gun, pointed it at Nix, and shot him in the midsection. As she tried to intervene, Nix ran from the house but Swain followed him and continued to fire the gun.

OCSO Investigators also learned that prior to the shooting, Swain had gone after his brother with a butcher knife, but their mother took it away.

Nix was transported to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola for treatment.

Swain is being remanded to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
