Proactive police work by Bravo Platoon East during their last two shifts led to the seizure of nearly 300 grams of marijuana during two separate traffic stops in Destin.

In the early morning hours of December 6th, a vehicle driven by 26-year old Aaron McAfee of Destin was stopped for driving through a portion of roadway closed due to construction on Indian Bayou Drive. Subsequent investigation revealed McAfee was impaired and he was subsequently arrested. The passenger, 37-year old Melvin Leverette, address unknown, was found to be sitting on a pellet gun, which resembled a true firearm. He also was carrying a large knife. Located inside of the vehicle were 91 Grams of Marijuana and evidence the occupants were engaged in its illegal distribution. McAfee is charged with DUI, Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana Over Twenty Grams, and Possession of Paraphernalia. Leverette is charged with Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana Over Twenty Grams, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of a Concealed Weapon.

During the late night hours of December 5th a vehicle driven by 53-year old Michael Clancy of Lake Charles Louisiana was stopped for defective equipment on his vehicle. Clancy was found to driving with a suspended license. Found inside of his vehicle was a total of 197 grams of marijuana, packaged in a manner to suggest illegal distribution, co-mingled with a large amount of cash. Clancy is charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana over Twenty Grams, and Driving While License Suspended or Revoked.
