SACHSE ARREST REPORT

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office peacefully resolved a six hour stand-off with a barricaded suspect inside a Destin hotel early this morning.

Deputies were called to the Home2 Suites on Emerald Coast Parkway around 5:30 a.m. in response to a “disturbance in progress”.

A 37-year old hotel guest from Oklahoma says 30-year old Nicholas Sachse had been walking around the second floor screaming. The guest told him to quiet down and says when he looked out the peephole, Sachse was pointing a handgun at it, causing him to fear for his life.

The OCSO Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiations Unit responded but Sachse, who had retreated to his room, refused to come out. The second floor hotel guests were safely evacuated.

SRT members ultimately breached the door and took Sachse into custody without incident on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

During the execution of a search warrant in Sachse’s hotel room, deputies found ammunition, a gun lock, and documentation for the purchase of a Ruger firearm, however the gun was not located.

It was the second call-out in two days for the OCSO SRT Team, which also responded to a standoff with an armed murder suspect in Bay County on Monday and assisted in taking that individual into custody.
