ocso memorial luncheon 2016

First District Florida Congressman Jeff Miller paid special tribute today to the men and women of local law enforcement for their “heart, level of courage, and commitment to service that we all aspire to achieve”.

Congressman Miller was the featured speaker at the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office’s Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon in honor of National Police Week.

Family members of fallen OCSO Deputies Tony Forgione (EOW 7/22/08), Burt Lopez (EOW 4/25/09), Skip York (EOW 4/25/09), and Bill Myers attended the event. Representative Miller told them “we will never be able to say thank you enough for the sacrifices your loved ones have made for us.”

Miller noted last year’s in the line of duty death of Deputy Myers on September 22, 2015 – as well as the death of Eglin Air Force Office of Special Investigations Agent Major Adrianna Vorderbruggen in Afghanistan on December 21, 2015.

Sheriff Larry Ashley says the OCSO Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon is designed to honor fallen officers and their families while also showing support and appreciation for those currently working to protect and serve.
