Carmel Shooting Pic One

An active investigation continues into a home invasion Thursday that prompted gunfire at a home in the Fort Walton Beach area.

Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office investigators working to unravel the chain of events say 28-year old Timothy Acoff reported that an armed man tried to break into his house at 406 Carmel Drive around 12:40 p.m. June 17th.

Acoff told deputies he fired his handgun at the individual numerous times after the man kicked in his front door. The intruder then fled in a white car.

A short time after deputies got to the scene, they learned that 27-year old Christopher Donaldson of 6 Mooney Road had arrived at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds. He remains hospitalized today.

Donaldson’s brother, 34-year old Talal Donaldson, was also being treated at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for a gunshot wound to the foot. Talal Donaldson told deputies he was a passenger in the car when gunfire erupted, but that he was not involved in any burglary or home invasion attempt.
