The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a Fort Walton Beach resident turned up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the wrist, saying he was shot during a robbery attempt.

26-year old Nathan Robinson of Baker Street told deputies the attack took place in the area around 104 Skinner Circle around 5:30 last night.

Robinson says he was smoking a cigarette outside his car in the parking lot of apartments on Skinner Circle when two men who had walked by suddenly turned and ran at him. Robinson says he jumped in his car and one of the men took out a handgun, pointing it at him and demanding his money and his grill (cosmetic set of tooth coverings made of precious or similar metal). Robinson says the second man then took the gun from the other, hit the driver side window with it, and shot him. The bullet struck Robinson in the left wrist.

Robinson described the shooter as a black male in his late teens with an afro, approximately 6’2″, wearing a gray and black hoodie with faded black jeans.

He described the second individual as a tall, skinny, light skinned black male with a high-top haircut, wearing a black shirt with a yellow decal and khaki shorts.

Robinson’s car, which was parking outside of the Emergency Room Entrance at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, had a shattered driver side window and a bullet fragment on the center console.

Robinson told deputies a friend drove him to the E-R.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office at 850-651-7400 or Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 850-863-TIPS. You can also reach Crime Stoppers at www.emeraldcoastcrimestoppers.com or by texting “TIP214 plus your message” to CRIMES (274637).
