MURPHY ARREST REPORT

A Crestview area teenager today admitted to Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office investigators that he was involved in the murder of a 69-year old woman during a burglary at her home May 26th.

17-year old Jeremiah Murphy is now charged with felony murder in connection with the shooting death of Nancy Kirk Williams of 4189 Painters Branch Road.

Williams was reported missing May 28th by her elderly mother, who had been unable to reach her after last speaking with her around 5 p.m. May 26th.

OCSO deputies conducting a welfare check last night found Williams on the floor inside a detached garage near her house. She had dirt and debris on her body and her face was covered with a beach towel. The Medical Examiner’s Office found multiple deformities on Williams’ head and face. She had also suffered several gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Investigators developed Murphy as a suspect. Late this afternoon, he told them he and an unidentified co-defendant went to Williams’ house May 26th to commit a burglary. He claims the other person shot Williams outside her home. Murphy added they went into the house and took cash and a cell phone, and moved Williams’ body into the garage area. Investigators say Murphy used to date the victim’s grand-daughter and had been to the home on numerous occasions.
