13 year old speeder and passenger

ARREST REPORTS

Shortly after calling off a pursuit of a suspicious driver who crossed the Shalimar Bridge at 90 miles an hour Sunday morning, the 13-year old driver hit a vehicle with a baby inside. The infant was not hurt but after her capture, the teen told deputies she didn’t care about the baby.

13-year old Tamia Gray of Fort Walton Beach is charged with fleeing and eluding at a high rate of speed and with a wanton disregard for other’s safety as well as resisting an officer without violence.

A 17-year old passenger in the car is charged with resisting arrest.

An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the car on Eglin Parkway near the Cinco Bayou Bridge around 10:22 July 17th and noticed it was going about 20 miles an hour. He also noticed the car was unable to maintain its lane. When he tried to initiate a traffic stop near the intersection with Racetrack Road, Gray sped up to an excessive speed. The deputy terminated the pursuit due to that speed, traffic, and wet road conditions. Gray continued down the roadway and hit a car near the intersection of Eglin Parkway and 6th Avenue in Shalimar. Both she and the passenger then took off running, but were captured by deputies in the McDonalds parking lot.

They were taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for medical evaluation before being transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
