During the year 2002, Okaloosa Sheriff's Deputies responded to an average of one call for assistance or other incident every three and one half minutes. The total call volume for the year of 144,179 was an increase of almost five percent over 2001.
Deputies reported a total of 20,814 traffic stops during the year, and 16,757 other traffic-related incident; traffic activity accounted for more than 26-percent of the 144,179 calls during the year.
The most common incidents handled by Deputies, with activity totals for the year:
assistance to citizens = 8,474
serving or attempting to serve criminal warrants = 7,585
theft = 7,266
responding to false alarms = 6,751
verifying 911 calls = 5,200
non-domestic fights & disturbances = 4,801
investigating suspicious persons/vehicles/activity = 4,628
serving or attempting to serve subpoenas & injunctions = 3,674
security checks of homes/businesses & other property = 3,580
assistance to other agencies = 2,903
transporting prisoners = 2,439
criminal mischief (vandalism) = 2,092
trespassing = 1,878
welfare checks (of individuals) = 1,695
harassment/stalking & harassing telephone calls = 1,692
domestic violence, custody disputes & injunction violations = 1,690
