The Fugitive Warrants Unit of the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office has located
and apprehended a Mississippi prison escapee sought since October, 1999.
Following up on information received by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office
this week, Investigators Fred Lithgow and Don Amunds traced Howard Demetric
Colter, age 26 (12-13-74) to a mobile home on Racetrack Road, where he was staying
with Jennifer Michelle Jackson, age 26 (8-15-74).
Colter was arrested on two outstanding warrants from Mississippi: one for escape from the Winston-Choctaw County Regional Correction Facility; the other on a Grand Jury indictment on two counts of Sale of Cocaine.
Jackson was arrested as an Accessory after the Fact, Aiding a Fugitive from Justice. When Deputies apprehended Colter today (Thursday), Jackson repeatedly gave false information about her identity.
Investigators believe Jackson and Colter arrived in Fort Walton Beach earlier this week, after traveling from the Mobile, Alabama area... and jointly rented the mobile home where they were arrested today.
